Financial hardship can happen to anybody, at any time and has many causes. As the evolving challenges and restrictions related to the COVID-19 virus are ever changing, it would be fair to say that life can be unpredictable and situations are sometimes outside of your control.
If you think you might struggle to meet financial commitments (relating to mortgage repayments or insurances) going forward, the earlier you act the better.

What is a Mortgage Holiday?
Banks have agreed to give mortgage holders whose incomes have been affected by COVID-19, a six-month payment holiday on both the interest and principal of their mortgages. But What is a Mortgage Holiday?
Before agreeing to a Mortgage Holiday you need to consider your own financial situation. A mortgage holiday isn’t a “freeze” of your mortgage, interest will still accrue and will be added to the loan balance. Although it may sound temping, you are essentially increasing your mortgage. At the end of your “Mortgage Holiday” your fixed repayments will increase so you can still repay the loan within its original loan term.
Dependant on your situation, you could opt for Interest Only. This means that your loan balance will not increase, but you still need to cover the loan interest costs.
Before deciding on any option, make sure you talk through your situation with the bank or your Mortgage Adviser.
